A 17-year-old boy has been refused bail after a police officer was injured during an alleged pursuit through Sydney’s lower north shore early on Saturday.

NSW Police said officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command sighted a Mazda sedan travelling on Military Road at Mosman about 4.30am on June 6.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle but allege it failed to do so, prompting a pursuit towards North Sydney.

The pursuit continued to Miller Street and then Blue Street, where the vehicle briefly stopped.

Police will allege that as officers approached the stationary vehicle, the driver accelerated, striking a 21-year-old constable before colliding with an unmarked police vehicle and driving away.

The officer sustained head and leg injuries and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

With assistance from Highway Patrol and the Dog Squad, police later located the vehicle abandoned on Blues Point Road, North Sydney.

A short time later, police arrested a 22-year-old man, a 17-year-old boy and two 17-year-old girls on Blues Point Road. All four were taken to Chatswood Police Station.

The 17-year-old boy was charged with causing grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to resist arrest, using an offensive weapon in company to prevent detention, police pursuit, learner not accompanied by driver, police officer or tester and driving a conveyance taken without consent of the owner.

He was refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Sunday June 7.

The 22-year-old man was charged with being carried in a conveyance taken without consent of the owner and goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen. He was granted conditional bail to appear before Manly Local Court on Thursday June 18.

The two 17-year-old girls were released pending further inquiries.
