When it comes to using your comments, posts, videos and photos from social media, email, phone and other contribution platforms, we follow the Online News Association’s Social Newsgathering Ethics Code.
This means we expect that:
- You are responsible for all content you contribute to any North Sydney Sun services, including text, photos, videos, audio and links (Your Content).
- You confirm you own or have the right to use any copyright material included in Your Content, that you have permission of anyone appearing in it and not infringe on anyone’s rights in submitting it.
- By making available Your Content to our social media, email, or designated hashtags, you grant us a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use Your Content in any way that we want.
- We will endeavour to provide you with an appropriate credit when using Your Content on our platforms, though you understand and agree this may not always be possible.
Comments policy:
The North Sydney Sun expects lively and civil discussions posted to our social media channels, to provide a platform for the people of North Sydney to express their views and build a strong community.
Do not post anything that would constitute a breach of an individual’s privacy (eg. uploading a license plate, photo, CCTV footage, contact details without consent) or any other legal rights.
Bullying of any kind isn’t allowed. Degrading comments about race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, or identity or comments that are intentionally false or misleading will not be tolerated.
Usernames that include offensive or abusive words will be blocked.
