Spring has sprung and North Sydney is beginning to bloom. The Sun has compiled a list of things to do with friends, family or as a solo outing as the weather starts to warm up.

Klay Pots Studio

Spice things up by getting down and dirty for some new decor! Klay Pot Studios is encouraging all pottery enthusiasts, or those looking to get stuck into a new craft, to join their six week wheel throwing course. With hands on, one on one mentoring to learn how to wheel throw, experiment with different clays and learn how to trim and glaze your own ceramics, each artist will take home 8 to 10 new pieces. With only six spots available, get in quick and register via their website!

Greenwood Plaza

What better way to beat the heat than free sorbet! Up until the end of September, those with a sweet tooth (and the Greencard app) are invited to the rooftop gardens every Thursday between midday and 2pm. There, enjoy live music and good vibes to celebrate the end of the week.

North Sydney Community Centre

Come down and cook up a storm with Anna Manlulo, writer, cook and founder of the Filipino Food Movement Australia. Running on September 28 between 10am and 1pm, Lasa is a two-part cooking class teaching the tips and tricks behind Filipino home cooking. The two dishes will be Suman, a traditional glutinous rice cake cooked in coconut milk wrapped in banana leaves, and Palitaw, a traditional rice complemented with the fresh grated coconut topping, coconut sugar and toasted sesame seed. Recipe cards will be provided to all participants and all dishes made will be taken home.

The Greens North Sydney

Keen to get moving, make friends and bask a bit of sunshine in the process? Look no further than RSL NSW’s Family Bowls Day. On October 13, from 12pm to 2pm, all are invited for a feed and some lawn bowl-related fun.

Hayden Orpheum

Put on your wetsuit and strap in for an awe-inspiring journey into the depths. Directed by Nays Baghai, winner of the 2020 Sydney Film Festival Best Australian Documentary, Diving Into The Darkness follows the expeditions of world-renowned cave diver Jill Heinerth. Hayden Orpheum is set to host the Sydney Premiere on October 1 at 6:30pm, and will take you through some of the most treacherous and remote underwater caves on the planet – with Ms Heinerth herself to be a special guest and panellist for the evening screenings and Q&A sessions for the first three nights.
