North Sydney Council is planning to start the year off with a bang and a splash, floating the idea of a “North Sydney New Year’s Pool Party”. The event would keep the pool open for swimming until 12:30AM on New Years, giving guests the chance to lap up Sydney’s iconic fireworks as close as you get.
Tickets are set at $250 per adult and $125 per child aged 3 to 15, with capacity capped at 1,000 guests. By comparison, Luna Park’s nearby New Year’s Eve event offers tickets ranging from $265 to $519 per person.

Council modeling projects a $173,584 profit from the party, providing a big chunk of an annual event revenue target of $500,000.
In addition to late-night swimming, the spa, sauna, and steam room will operate until closing. However, for anyone hoping to jump-start their New Year’s fitness resolutions, the gym will close early at 2:00 p.m.
Entertainment and food and beverage stalls will also be available but hold the champagne because the event is alcohol-free. Attendees will not be permitted to bring food or beverages into the venue.
Council will consider the proposal at a meeting set on Monday 26 October.
