North Sydney residents will be invited behind the scenes at Stanton Library when it holds its annual open day on Thursday, 30 July.

The free event will give visitors a closer look at North Sydney’s largest library, with activities for readers, families and local history enthusiasts.

Historical Services staff will lead guided tours of North Sydney Council’s archive, artwork and artefact collection. Visitors will be able to explore items ranging from artworks and archaeological material to clothing and historic cooking equipment.

Librarians will also offer one-on-one “book doctor” sessions throughout the day for people looking to discover new authors, genres or library resources.

Younger visitors can take part in Rhymetime, featuring songs, music, rhymes and puppets designed to support early literacy. The session is aimed at babies aged up to two years, although children of all ages are welcome. Parents and carers must remain and participate.

Mayor Zoë Baker is also scheduled to attend.

Bookings are required for all activities and can be made through Stanton Library’s website or by contacting the library.
