Lunar Laneways is coming to St Leonard’s Canberra Avenue, Marshall Lane and Wadanggari Park on Saturday, 28 February. In celebration of the Lunar New Year, this street party will feature night markets and food stalls, live music performances, interactive workshops, cultural games, art installations, lanterns, light displays and immersive public art.

The music and performance program boasts a rich mix of contemporary and traditional Asian-Australian talent:

  • Vinyl House will deliver soulful and warm covers, featuring a mix of K-pop alongside contemporary Korean and international music.
  • The Zodiac Quartet, a four-piece ensemble drawn from Sydney’s music scene, will weave passionate, narrative-driven jazz influenced by their Asian-Australian heritage. The quartet features Jordan Chung (piano), Hinano Fujisaki (tenor saxophone), Sabine Tapia (double bass), and Manson Luk (drums).
  • DJ Pluggy, a renowned turntablist hailing from Korea, will spin a diverse and global range of sounds in her sets.

  • Clipped Karaoke is setting up an activation that merges inclusive public performance with contemporary live video art. For the Lunar Laneways event, they will feature a library of K-pop and Korean favourites, including a special K-pop Demon Hunters Singalong.
  • Jeonghee Jang, a Korean dance artist based in Sydney, will showcase and teach both traditional and contemporary Korean dance forms.
  • The traditional music and dance team, Toulim, will be performing samulnori and gugak.
  • The H.I.M.I K-pop dance crew will provide roving and stage performances.
