A musical based on the successful Busy Izzy and Friends book series is heading to the local stage next month.

The show – titled Busy Izzy and Friends Meet The Three Little Pigs – is scheduled for North Sydney Leagues Club on 21 April from 10am.

The musical centres around the adventures of Busy Izzy and her friends Secret Agent Skye, Talkative Tess, Bossy Bobby, Izzy’s adopted puppy Newly Truly and the World Famous Three Little Pigs and the Wolf.

The themes for this Busy Izzy and Friends Show include friendship, self-confidence, logic and common sense, safety and stranger danger. The 45-minute show is designed for three- to eight-year-olds, with tickets priced at $20. Busy Izzy and Friends has been nominated for Best Children’s Show at the ACE awards, to be held just two days after the North Sydney show.

The Busy Izzy books were created by Roxanne Kiely, illustrated by Jeesoo Kim, and include music by Stephen Kiely. The score for Busy Izzy and Friends has won the Australian Songwriters Association’s children’s song award some four times in the past five years.

Endorsed by the World Literacy Foundation, the sing-along picture books aim to embrace and impart emotional and educational development drivers including good manners, kindness, generosity, honesty, patience, sharing, respect, love and open-mindedness. The books also encourage good physical health through the inclusion of healthy recipes.

Busy Izzy and her cast of friends are designed to illustrate different personalities across a broad spectrum for children to relate to. Her point of view is always directed toward a sensible, compassionate, and positive reaction to the situation presented to her at any given time in the story. Book four is currently in the works.
