North Sydney will get a new major school from next year when Reddam House North Shore opens in McLaren St. The school will accommodate up to 1,350 students, with an initial intake from kindergarten to year 9.

The new school will be operated by Inspired, a ‘leading global premium school group,’ which operates 110 schools across six continents. The existing Reddam House Sydney, located in Woollahra, has been ranked as the best independent school in NSW over the past two years by the measure of HSC results.

North Sydney Sun first reported on the planned campus in October 2022, when its development application indicated plans to launch in 2024. According to an Inspired spokesperson, the delay was the result of taking longer than expected to work through project design and planning.

The school is to operate from the existing eight storey Simsmetal building, designed by Harry Seidler and opened in 1972. Inspired said it is investing $55 million in the school, with the building upgrade managed by construction and development group Built. The location is across the road from the northern entrance of the new Victoria Cross Metro station.

The school is 9,000 square metres in size and is to include music studios, a dance studio, a gym, library, terrace play areas, multiple science labs, a senior resource centre, plus art, design & tech areas.

Inspired founder Nadim M Nsouli said, “The Reddam House North Shore campus will provide the local community with state-of-the-art educational facilities, modern resources, and experienced teachers, and offers a diverse and comprehensive curriculum that prepares students for the challenges of the 21st century.”

He added: “This exceptional new school in North Shore represents our dedication to Australia and our commitment to building on the successes we have achieved in the country so far. Students will uniquely benefit from global exchange and summer camp programmes and opportunities, that when coupled with the international curriculum and initiatives we have in place, instil in students a heightened understanding and appreciation of their fellow global citizens, equipping them for success in both their academic pursuits and future careers within an ever-evolving global landscape.”

Although the first intake will be capped at year 9, a year group will be added annually. All students currently enrolled in Inspired schools will be given preferred enrolment into the North Sydney campus.
