North Sydney Council’s annual community awards are open for nominations. This year’s awards fall into six categories; Community Builder, Eco Warrior, Living Legend, Next Generation and Trailblazer.
Community Builder consists of a person or group who has made an outstanding contribution to making the North Sydney community stronger, whilst the Eco Warrior is a person or group who has made an outstanding contribution to the local environment or sustainability efforts.
The Living Legend award belongs to someone who has served the North Sydney community for more than 20 years and is an inspiration to others.
People under 24 are able to be nominated for the Next Generation title for those who have made an outstanding contribution to the North Sydney community and are an inspiration to others.
Meanwhile, the Trailblazer award is to go to a person or group that has driven positive impact by addressing a current social, developmental, economic or environmental challenge through innovative and bold ideas and/or collaboration.
“Whether it is someone who volunteers in the area, a social entrepreneur, or you know of a project with wide community impact, a Community Award is a great way to recognise someone or a group that is making a difference,” the website reads.
All nominees must be an Australian citizen and cannot be self nominated.
They don’t have to reside in the North Sydney LGA but their contributions must have been made within the area and in 2023.
Winners will be chosen by Mayor Zoe Baker and Deputy Mayor William Bourke alongside the Community Awards Committee.
Nominations are open until February 12.
