High schools in the Lower North Shore have excelled at this year’s HSC exams, with three ranking in the state’s top ten.
North Sydney Boys High topped the state for the first time, knocking incumbent leader James Ruse off for the first time in 27 years.
The last seven years has seen a rise in the Crows Nest all-boys campus’ advanced and extension English results and an improvement in maths scores, with a success rate (Band 6) hike up to 69 percent from 62.84 last year.
North Sydney Girls came in at fourth, whilst St Aloysius in Kirribilli, which requires students to sit an entrance exam, jumped to 6th place from 15th last year.
Loreto Kirribilli was 13th, down eight spots from 2022, with SHORE sitting right behind at 14th, up six spots.
Meanwhile, Willoughby Girls landed 56th, up ten spots from last year.
It maintained its spot as second top comprehensive public school in New South Wales, down from number 1 in 2021.
Cammeraygal High School ranked seventh in the comprehensive schools list this year, a fantastic achievement from their first lot of HSC students achieving a rank of 18th in 2020.
55,523 students were eligible for an ATAR this year; with a median ATAR of 71.9 for girls and 70 for boys.
The top ATAR mark of 99.95 was achieved by 12 females and 37 males.
