A man in his 60s is in a critical condition after being hit by a garbage truck on the Pacific Highway, near Walker St, North Sydney early Tuesday morning, January 20, 2026.
Emergency services, including police from North Shore Police Area Command and NSW Ambulance, responded to the scene just before 6am following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian.
The injured man was treated at the location for serious injuries before being transported to Royal North Shore Hospital, where his condition is listed as critical.
Police arrested the truck driver, who was then taken to the hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit have established a crime scene on the Pacific Highway and are conducting a thorough examination to determine the circumstances of the collision.
