23 March 2026
The staircase and walkway that runs between Jeffery St Wharf and Mary Booth Reserve will be closed for four weeks for essential maintenance works. Starting on March 23 until April 20, pedestrian access will be unavailable along the route during weekdays, but opened on weekends.
Access to Mary Booth Reserve or Jeffrey St Wharf will not be affected, remaining open to the public.

This waterfront walkway arguably provides the best views of Sydney’s harbour, the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and CBD. It is considered by many as one of the hidden gems of the city compared to the Circular Quay precinct it is parallel to.
Works will specifically centre on the staircase including repairs to the fixing points of the metal treads and rust treatment (removal, preparation, and painting) to the structural beams and supports.
Alternative pedestrian routes include using Waruda Avenue and Road, Kirribilli Avenue and Jeffery Street.
