Dr Anne Ireland has been named North Shore Woman of the Year 2025 following community consultation, according to an announcement by local member of parliament Felicity Wilson.

Ireland was recognised for her contributions to education, advocacy for young women, and commitment to the local community. She has served as principal at two prominent girls’ colleges over an 18-year career, fostering an environment of empowerment, academic excellence, and personal growth. Her influence extends beyond the school system, with published works such as Consent & Respect and Integration of Wellbeing & Curriculum reflecting her broader impact on educational practices.
Beyond education, Ireland has been active in community health initiatives, participating in local events such as the Balmoral Burn and Balmoral Ocean Swim for Cancer. She is also involved in the North Sydney Parish Council and the Independent Girls Schools’ Alliance.
Now in her tenth year as principal of Marist Sisters’ College, Ireland continues to be a key figure in the local community. Wilson praised her leadership, saying, “Dr Anne Ireland’s contributions to education and her tireless commitment to empowering young women are inspiring. She has set an extraordinary example for leadership, not just in her career, but in her devotion to community health, charity, and the wellbeing of others.”
The NSW Local Women of the Year awards acknowledge women for their contributions to business, leadership, volunteerism, and mentorship in their local communities.
