Six new life saving devices are set to be installed across parks in the North Sydney LGA.

The installation of the defibrillators – machines that apply an electric charge or current to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat – is to ensure help is available at public sites in case of an emergency.

Anderson Park, Cammeray Park, Forsyth Park, Primrose Park, St Leonard’s Park and Waverton Park will be fitted with the weather-resistant, damage-resistant and theft-resistant devices in the coming weeks.

It comes as North Sydney Council plans to run two workshops for members of the community to become CPR certified.

Australian Lifesaving Academy NSW will run the course from 10am to 12.30pm on September 23 and 27.

The course is $75, with the certification to stay valid for a year.

Registration is available on the Council website.
