Charles Sturt University has launched a new campus in North Sydney.

It opened its doors at Berry Street, welcoming its first cohort of students, in February.

The regional university made the announcement in partnership with global education provider Navitas on Monday. It already has campuses spread across regional NSW in locations such as Bathurst and Wagga.

“It has been our pleasure to welcome both domestic and international students to our new metropolitan campus surrounded by a world-class business community in one of the most vibrant cities in the world,” Navitas Group CEO Scott Jones said.

“Our purpose at Navitas is to transform lives through education, and we look forward to watching that transformation occur over the coming years at Charles Sturt University Sydney.”

He added: “Through the shared values of Navitas and Charles Sturt, students will not only develop the knowledge and skills to earn a degree to set them up for future employment and success, they will also be encouraged and empowered to have a positive impact on the world around them.”

The university’s reputation for high quality education and student services – combined with Navitas’s strong history of good governance and compliance – had proved an attractive option particularly for international students, Jones continued.

Students often have the unique opportunity to undertake a regional experience as part of their degree.

“As Australia’s leading regional university, our commitment to our regions is unwavering and remains our core strategic priority,” Charles Sturt Vice-Chancellor Professor Renée Leon said. .

“Charles Sturt students studying at a metropolitan campus will receive sector-leading outcomes like our other students, including top graduate employment rates and starting salaries.”

Leon added those who are looking to study at the Sydney campus can enjoy the same student experience as students at the university’s regional campuses, including access to online learning resources and other services as required.

Navitas is to manage the Sydney campus with a second to open in Melbourne in 2025.

The expansion is set to further position the University to leverage the many benefits of internationalisation that come from a capital city presence, Leon continued.

She said: “Together with this campus in Sydney, our entry into Melbourne will deliver greater brand awareness, support our climb in global rankings, and facilitate the development of new partnerships – all which will support our regional campuses.”

Charles Sturt offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in business, accounting and IT.
