For 98 years the Bridgeview Hotel has been a local favourite and visitors’ hub in Willoughby. After 14 years of operation, the venue’s owners, Solotel, have decided to sell the iconic pub and hotel.

The site covers 1,362 square metres, which includes a pub on the ground floor and 16 pub-style accommodation rooms across the top two levels. The Hotel Licence has a 1am closing time and includes 28 pokies (seven leased), with an annual revenue listed at $5,345,000 across the entire venue.

The hotel officially opened in September 1928. Tooth & Company initially took ownership upon the hotel’s opening in September 1928, maintaining control for many decades. Prior to the major market shifts of the mid-2000s, the venue was owned by private hotelier Peter Bunting.

In October 2005, the Laundy family purchased the hotel from Bunting for $15.5 million. Not long after, Queensland tycoon Tom Hedley acquired a portfolio of seven pubs, including the Bridgeview, for $100 million in January 2007. The hotel was subsequently operated by National Leisure and Gaming as part of the Hedley portfolio until 2012.

Following this period, the hotel was acquired by the Solotel hospitality group, led by the Solomon and Moran families, who continue to own the establishment today.

The Solotel group owns some of the biggest hospitality venues in Sydney, including Opera Bar, Aria, The Abercrombie, The Clock Hotel, The Bank Hotel, The Courthouse Hotel, Paddo Inn and The Strand Darlinghurst.

The new owners will also inherit H&E architectural plans for a complete reconfiguration of the main trading level (including adjoining premises), moving the kitchen and significantly expanding and improving gaming areas.

Now may be an ideal time to buy, with the closest pub, the Northbridge Hotel, closing for demolition after 95 years of operation.
