The Warringah Freeway Upgrade began work in March 2021. Now with a completion set for lat 2026, the NSW Government has begun the process of transferring land used during construction to local authorities. 

In the North Sydney LGA six sites, totalling 14,399.2 sqm, have been identified as likely to be transferred to Council for care, control, and management.

Here are the six lots that could be transferred to North Sydney Council

1. Rose Avenue Reserve 975.2sqms – Cnr Alfred Street and Rose Avenue, Neutral Bay

2. Anzac Avenue Reserve 2,120sqms – Cnr Anzac Avenue and Rosalind Street, Cammeray 

3. Jefferson Jackson Reserve 3,659sqms – Cnr Moodie Street and Warringah Freeway, Cammeray 

4. Merlin Street Reserve 1,054sqms – Cnr Merlin Street and McIntosh Lane, Neutral Bay

5. Whaling Park 3,086sqms – Cnr Whaling Road and Alfred Street, North Sydney

6. High Street reserve 3,505sqms – Cnr High Street and Cahill Expressway onramp

At a meeting set to take place on Monday 9 February, Council is likely to approve a motion enabling their CEO to begin formal discussions with Transport for NSW about future care, control, and management of the sites.
