Reddam House celebrated its grand opening on Monday, 17 February, adding another school to the North Shore region.
The opening ceremony was hosted by co-principals Dave and Dee Pitcairn. Dave Pitcairn previously told The Sun, “The reason the [North Sydney campus] became necessary was because of the type of education we’re offering here and the demand for it… I believe that what is becoming more and more obvious is that there is a need for this type of school.”
In a joint statement, the co-principals said, “This school is more than just a building; it’s a community of students, parents, and educators united by a shared vision to inspire greatness in every child. We are proud to welcome our founding students and families as we embark on this new journey together.”
State MP for North Shore Felicity Wilson, along with North Sydney councillors Godfrey Santer and Jessica Keen, attended the event to welcome Reddam to the neighbourhood.
Wilson told The Sun, “I was excited to welcome Reddam House North Shore to our community as it responds to increasing demand from parents and students for more choice in co-education opportunities. Located in the heart of North Sydney, right across the road from the game-changing Sydney Metro station, the school has thoughtfully transformed a former Harry Seidler commercial office building into a state-of-the-art vertical school.”
North Sydney Councillor Santer stated, “North Sydney Council welcomes the establishment of Reddam House in our LGA. North Sydney has the greatest concentration and variety of schools—public and private—in our LGA. The arrival of Reddam House will add to the diverse range of education opportunities here, especially given its focus on the personal development of each student’s intellectual skills and interests.”
This North Shore location is Reddam House’s third Sydney campus, following the establishment of its Bondi school in 2001 and the larger Woollahra campus in 2003.
Glenn Andrew, APAC regional CEO of Inspired Education Group, was also in attendance. “Reddam House North Shore demonstrates our commitment to expanding Reddam’s success story and meeting a growing demand for world-class, co-ed, independent education in Australia. By blending global best practices in education with a truly student-centric approach, we will be shaping future leaders from this vibrant community in North Sydney.”
Currently, 500 students from kindergarten to Year 9 are enrolled at the new campus, located at 41 McLaren Street, North Sydney. The school anticipates a total enrolment of 1,350 as additional year groups are introduced.
The $55 million campus spans 9,000m² and features science labs, multiple libraries, an auditorium, breakout spaces, and fully equipped arts, dance, drama, and music studios. The school also boasts a VR classroom in partnership with Meta, outdoor terraces with harbour views, and modernist art walls.
