NBN Co will move to the soon-to-be-completed Victoria Cross Tower in North Sydney, signing an eight-year lease with developer Lendlease to occupy 9,000 square metres across six floors. The relocation, set for mid-2026, will consolidate the company’s office footprint as part of broader workforce and workplace reforms.

The new premises at 155 Miller Street will house NBN Co across floors 6 to 11 of the mixed-use precinct, which is located above the Victoria Cross Metro Station. The relocation will align with the expiry of NBN Co’s current lease at 100 Mount Street, where the company currently occupies 13,000 square metres across 11 floors.

NBN Co’s move to Victoria Cross Tower reflects broader reductions in its office space requirements in major cities, driven by workforce restructuring, hybrid work arrangements and a focus on efficient office design. In 2023, the company cut its workforce by 10% and vacated approximately 7,000 square metres at its Mount Street location, consolidating its operations into fewer floors.

According to executive manager corporate real estate, facilities and fleet Louise Bardone, the shift to the Victoria Cross Tower will deliver significant cost savings through optimised floor space while leveraging the flexibility offered by hybrid work enabled by the NBN network.

“The strength and reliability of the NBN network has allowed us to maintain hybrid work arrangements, providing employees with flexibility and delivering cost-savings to the business over the next eight years through optimised floor space,” Bardone said.

She highlighted the new tower’s connectivity and sustainability credentials as key factors in the decision, noting its direct link to the metro station and proximity to major transport corridors. The building is targeting multiple sustainability certifications, including a 6 Star Green Star rating, 5.5 NABERS Energy rating and Platinum WELL v2 Pilot rating. It will also feature renewable electricity, net zero carbon construction for scopes 1 and 2, and EV charging stations.

“Victoria Cross Tower’s attributes will position NBN Co as an attractive workplace that draws and retains top talent,” Bardone added.

Lendlease CEO development Tom Mackellar described the precinct as central to North Sydney’s transformation.

“The new Victoria Cross Station is a catalyst for renewal in North Sydney, and our Victoria Cross Tower stands at the centre of this transformation. It’s attracting future-focused tenants seeking premium, well-connected office spaces and a workplace that supports their sustainability goals,” he said.

The Victoria Cross Tower is expected to open as part of a broader mixed-use retail, office and transport hub that will be three minutes from Barangaroo, six minutes from Chatswood and nine minutes from Central via the new metro service.
