Ezzelino’s Italian Restaurant, a Neutral Bay institution first opened 1982, has announced its permanent closure. The family-owned and operated restaurant, known for its authentic, home-style Italian cooking and warm, family-friendly atmosphere, will not be reopening after the Christmas and New Year break. Owners Christine and Christian took over the restaurant on March 1, 2025, from the third generation of the founding family.

The couple shared the difficult news, stating that the decision was made because “unfortunately the business was no longer viable.”

The closure comes despite the restaurant’s continued popularity and critical recognition; as recently as 2025, Ezzelino’s was a finalist for the “Outstanding Restaurant” category in the North Shore Local Business Awards.

In their heartfelt announcement, the owners expressed their gratitude to the community. “We thank all our customers, friends, and families who have supported Ezzelinos over the years, your love and support has meant everything to us,” they said. Looking to the future, Christine and Christian are shifting their focus. “We are now entering a new chapter, focusing on our growing family and spending precious time with our little ones,” they stated. They concluded their message with a final thanks: “Thank you again for all the memories and support. We wish you all nothing but positivity and happiness.”
