The last chapter is being written for two historical, though unlisted, residences in Crows Nest, as a residential flat building is slated for their sites.

A proposed $8.6 million redevelopment, could boost Crows Nests’ housing supply with the construction of a new multistory apartment building on a site that is currently home to just two small houses.

The properties, 6 Sophia Street and 100 Falcon Street, are set for demolition to make way for the new development. The home at 100 Falcon Street is the older of the two, believed to have been constructed around 1897, placing it firmly in the late Victorian/early Federation period. The second home, at 6 Sophia Street, dates to approximately 1914, representing the later Federation period.

Despite their age, spanning more than a century and a quarter respectively, the single-storey houses are not listed as heritage items under the North Sydney Local Environmental Plan and do not fall within a mapped Heritage Conservation Area.

The development plans detail the construction of a new multi-story flat building to replace the existing structures. This ambitious project will deliver 7 new residential units, five 3 bedroom apartments and two 4 bedroom apartments including a car parking level with a basement level for car stackers pits and services, communal open space. The total estimated cost of the development is$ 8,692,207.00
