Fortinet has opened its new company-owned Australian headquarters in Blues Point Rd, McMahons Point, adjacent to North Sydney, marking the launch of its first Innovation Hub in the Asia-Pacific region. The facility, supported by an investment of more than $75 million, will serve as a key site for the company’s operations in government, defence, and critical infrastructure sectors, as well as its engagement with the Five Eyes alliance.
The headquarters will accommodate over 200 employees and has been designed with capacity for future workforce expansion. It forms part of Fortinet’s broader global investment in property, following similar developments in the United States, Canada, and Spain.
The Innovation Hub incorporates several key features, including a high-tech data centre providing sovereign hosting services, secure access service edge capabilities, and Level 3 security data classification. A separate technical assistance centre is also housed on-site, offering local testing, simulations, and cybersecurity support for customers.
Sustainability has been factored into the design, with the facility achieving a 4-Star Green Star rating. It features rooftop solar panels and sources 100% green energy for its remaining power needs. Fortinet has also integrated recycled furnishings and engaged First Nations suppliers in the fit-out process.
The facility also aims to address the cybersecurity skills gap, expanding Fortinet’s local training and workforce development initiatives. It includes a cyber training centre offering Fortinet Training Institute certification programs, with a goal to train one million cybersecurity professionals by 2026. The company is working with universities, vocational training institutions, and government bodies to embed cybersecurity education into academic curricula and provide tailored training programs for workforce upskilling.
One such initiative includes Fortinet’s partnership with the South Australian Department for Education, which provides cybersecurity training for all staff in the state’s government schools.
“Fortinet’s investment in Australia underscores its commitment to advancing cybersecurity resilience across the region,” Fortinet vice president Vishak Raman said. “With the launch of Fortinet’s first Innovation Hub in the Asia-Pacific region, the company is not only strengthening local capabilities but also enabling enterprises, governments, and Australia’s critical infrastructure operators to drive digital resilience, accelerate innovation, and build a cyber-ready workforce.”
