The Northern Suburbs Basketball Association announced Eric Stephens as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective June 3, 2024.

Stephens brings over 20 years of senior leadership and CEO experience to the role. His broad skill set includes growing high-performing teams and developing consumer engagement strategies for a wide range of businesses, including TPG Telecom, Adidas, Petbarn, and The Australian Radio Network.

His experience in basketball started with playing and coaching and now includes domestic and international court announcing. Of course, the highlight of his career so far is his role as the official Norths Bears NBL1 announcer! He has also worked at three FIBA Basketball World Cup events, the NBA Summer League, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games, the Sydney Kings, the Sydney Flames, and the 3X3 Premier League.

“The combination of his passion for basketball, his extensive network, both locally and internationally and his ability to deliver strategies designed to improve the experience of our team, volunteers, members, and spectators gives us a distinct advantage as we pursue greater opportunities for people of all ages to participate in community sport,” Norths said in a statement.

“We’re delighted to welcome Eric as our new CEO,” said Vik Kortian, President of the Northern Suburbs Basketball Association. “Eric’s extensive leadership experience, coupled with his ability to build strong relationships across all stakeholders, makes him the ideal leader to drive our association forward and continue the momentum we’ve achieved over the last few years.”

Stephens said  “I am honoured to serve NSBA as CEO and ready to contribute to the growth of basketball at the grassroots level. I look forward to working with the NSBA team, stakeholders, and the wider basketball community to promote inclusivity and excellence in our sport.”
