Bears launch jersey for NRL return

The North Sydney and Perth Bears have officially revealed their jersey for the 2027 NRL season at simultaneous events held at Norths Cammeray and the WACA Ground in Perth.

The jersey is based on the club’s foundation jersey from 1908, but looks more specifically the version they wore from 1920-1931 with larger stripes.

 A Cash Converters logo is on the centre of the jersey. The company first established in Perth was the major sponsor of the short lived WA Reds who played two seasons in the ARL. 

At Norths Cammeray on Friday, the ballroom was packed to the brim with Bears members, former players and special guests for the unveiling. National team coaches Kevin Walters and Brian McDermott headlined the event with a Q&A.

A live stream brought the presentation to the east coast live from the WACA, where Bears legend Billy Moore and inaugural coach Mal Maninga were both on hand. 

Club legend Greg Florimo also announced to the crowd at Norths that he is publishing a new book Stand Aside – Greg Florimo and the Return of the MIGHTY BEARS. The book will cover the history of the club from the early 90s, to their expulsion from first grade and the journey to reinstatement in Perth. The book is expected to be completed by the start of the 2027 NRL season and will give a first hand look at the highs and lows of the club over the last few decades. 

With the crest, jersey, coach and majority for the squad locked in, all systems are go for the return of the Bears for round 1 of the 2027 NRL season.
