The sixth annual Mary’s House Walk is expected to attract its largest turnout yet on Sunday, October 25, bringing together local residents, businesses, schools and community groups to raise awareness of domestic and family violence and funds to support victim-survivors.
The 8.8-kilometre walk will begin at St Leonards Park in North Sydney, proceed through Lavender Bay to Balls Head Reserve and finish at North Sydney Oval. The dog-friendly event will also feature live music from the NSW Police Band and a complimentary community barbecue hosted by Rotary.

Established on the North Shore in 2016, Mary’s House Services provides refuge accommodation and specialist casework services for women and children escaping domestic and family violence. The organisation also operates 11 community programs offering therapeutic, legal and wellbeing support.
The inaugural walk was held virtually in 2020 because of COVID-19 restrictions, followed by a second online event in 2021. The first in-person walk attracted approximately 100 participants in 2022, with numbers growing steadily to a record 1,350 last year.
Participants can register individually or form fundraising teams with family, friends and colleagues. Funds raised will support Mary’s House Services’ social work and other assistance programs for victim-survivors.
