A new development application lodged with North Sydney Council has revealed plans to open a Japanese-style convenience store, Blue Panda Mini Mart, at 208 Blues Point Road, McMahons Point.
Located on the prominent corner of Blues Point Road and Lavender Street, the shopfront was previously occupied by hairdressing salon Toni & Guy. If approved, the site will bring a new convenience back to the block following the opening of the Sydney By Kayak SBK Eco Hub at the former Blues Corner Convenience site last May.
According to the application, the proposed mini mart will cost $189,090 in fit-outs and signage works. It will primarily stock fresh and pre-packaged ready-to-go food products, groceries, and everyday accessories supplied by external vendors.
While no cooking will take place on site, a small kitchenette will be used to maintain food safety standards. All items will be sold in disposable packaging for takeaway or on-site consumption, with seating provided for up to four patrons inside and up to 16 in the existing outdoor courtyard.
The business seeks approval to trade from 7am to 11pm, seven days a week, with the courtyard seating area operating between 9am and 9pm daily.
