North Sydney Council has opened applications for its 2027 Creative Spaces and Writer in Residence programs, offering subsidised studio space and mentorship for local artists and writers.
The initiative provides affordable workspaces across four locations: Alfred Street Artists’ Studios in Milsons Point, Coal Loader Artist’s Studio in Waverton, Don Bank Museum in North Sydney, and Primrose Park Artists’ Studios in Cremorne.

The program features a dedicated First Nations Creative Residency at Alfred Street Studios, offering cultural support from Cammeraygal Elder Auntie Jeanie Moran, as well as the Coal Loader Artist Residency focused on sustainability and environmental leadership.
Additionally, the Don Bank Writer in Residence program, delivered alongside Writing NSW, will support emerging and established authors with dedicated time, mentoring, and publishing industry guidance.
The program will also introduce public initiatives in 2027, including “Creative Communities” workshops and “Creative Conversations” bi-monthly talks featuring resident artists.
Applications open on October 6, 2026, and close on November 6, 2026. An online information session is scheduled for October 27, followed by an Open Studios event on October 31.
