Crows Nest site to remain as childcare centre after sale

Discover My World Early Learning Centre has bought a Crows Nest property for a reported $9 million, securing its continued use for childcare after it was marketed for potential residential redevelopment.

SDN Children’s Services sold the 1,473 square metre site at 8 Rodborough Avenue, which has operated as a childcare centre since 1926. Discover My World plans to take over operations in February 2027 and refurbish the centre.

The property sits in a cul-de-sac beside Cammeraygal High School and around the corner from North Sydney Boys High School. Its R4 high density residential zoning prompted selling agency Colliers to promote its redevelopment potential.

“High Density Residential sites with holding income are especially rare in the precinct,” Colliers Sydney North sales head Tom Appleby said when the property was listed. He said the vendor’s willingness to offer extended settlement terms would appeal to developers.
