St Leonards creative precinct celebrates decade of art and community with new exhibition

The Australian Chinese Art Residency (ACAR), located at 62 Atchison Street, has announced a new exhibition marking the tenth anniversary of the local creative precinct. 

Titled “Ten Years of Excellence: A Creative Precinct Retrospective,” the event will showcase the artistic practice, cultural exchange, and creative achievements that have defined the precinct over the past decade.

Established in St Leonards in 2014, the TWT Creative Precinct was developed in early collaboration with Brand X to use commercial buildings as an active creative community. Throughout its decade of operation, the precinct provided over 4,000 square metres of subsidised creative space, supporting more than 800 artists, rehearsal and performance spaces, creative businesses, and galleries.

Organisers noted that the precinct served as a key hub for artistic experimentation and encounter, bridging diverse cultures, ideas, and artists. 

The showcase features works by the following exhibiting serveral artists including Abdul Abdullah, Caroline Rothwell, Michaela Gleave, Kim Leutwyler, Todd Fuller and Geng Xue, as well as work by curator Paul McDonald, long standing participant in the creative precinct community.

The exhibition’s opening night will take place on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, with the public run scheduled from 26 September through 18 December 2026.
