North Sydney Olympic Pool to reopen Saturday after power issue

North Sydney Olympic Pool will reopen as normal on Saturday after technicians completed work to fix the power issue that forced the newly redeveloped facility to close on Friday.

North Sydney Council confirmed on Friday evening that the pool would be “open and operating as normal” from Saturday, August 15.

The shutdown came just a week after the landmark pool reopened following five years of redevelopment, delays and substantial cost overruns.

Swimmers and gym users arriving on Friday morning were told the entire facility was temporarily closed while technicians investigated the problem.

“Council thanks the community for its patience and understanding during the temporary closure and looks forward to welcoming visitors back to the facility,” the council said.

The power failure added to early teething problems at the venue, including disruption to its online membership portal and an ongoing dispute involving restaurant Aqua.
