North Sydney Council has greenlit plans for 27 new electric vehicle charging locations across the local government area.

The project, spearheaded by the charge point operator EVX Australia, will see dual port chargers installed on existing Ausgrid electricity poles. Each of the 27 sites will be equipped with 22kW three-phase AC chargers.

These units will service two dedicated parking spaces each, which will be signposted as “Electric Vehicles Only While Charging” to ensure they are reserved for drivers actively using the chargers.

The infrastructure will be entirely funded and managed by EVX Australia. This includes electricity supply, maintenance, signage, and customer support. The chargers will operate on a separate electricity meter, meaning they will not draw power from the council’s supply, nor will they cost the council anything to install or maintain.

Drivers will be able to initiate charging sessions through the EVX Australia mobile app and will need to bring their own charging cables to use the service.

The proposed sites are spread across several North Sydney LGA suburbs:

  • Cammeray: 33 Anzac Ave, 8 Warringa Rd
  • Cremorne: 232 Ben Boyd Rd, 2 Hampden Ave, 9 Paling St, 68 Murdoch St
