North Sydney Council is proposing millions of dollars in upgrades to sports facilities across the municipality under its draft Delivery Program 2025–2029 and Operational Plan 2026–2027.
One of the largest projects is the renewal of the synthetic sportsfield at Cammeray Park, with $1.8 million allocated in 2026–27. Council also plans to prepare designs for an upgrade of Cammeray Skate Park.
Across the road at Green Park, Council has proposed a $500,000, two-year upgrade of the tennis courts and associated amenities to create a more flexible multi-use facility. The project would initially involve concept design and community consultation.

At Crows Nest, $250,000 has been budgeted in 2026–27 for critical renewal works at the North Sydney Indoor Sports Centre, followed by a further $2.25 million in 2027–28.
Council also plans to explore opportunities with the Northern Suburbs Basketball Association to increase the capacity and use of the centre. Options could include accommodating hockey and netball matches and training, as well as emerging sports such as pickleball and climbing.

The program includes an upgrade of two sportsfields at Primrose Park, while the St Leonards Park netball courts are proposed to be reconstructed. Drainage improvements are also planned for Primrose Park and Tunks Park.
At Tunks Park, Council has proposed replacing the existing amenities building with new gender-neutral facilities, along with renewing fitness equipment and park lighting.
Council also intends to investigate opportunities to provide more facilities for junior and women’s AFL, although this remains a strategic initiative rather than a funded construction project.

Other proposed recreation works include basketball half-courts, outdoor table tennis tables and multi-use games areas in selected larger parks, including Forsyth Park, Waverton Park, Bradfield Park and Brightmore Reserve.
The draft also includes renewal works at North Sydney Oval and design work for upgrades at Forsyth Park and Kesterton Park.
Many of the proposed projects form part of Council’s Stronger North Sydney Program, funded through the approved Special Rate Variation. The draft plan will need to be formally adopted before the works proceed.
