Neutral Bay’s Pienza development has completed its retail precinct with the opening of a pilates studio and Italian restaurant at the prominent Waters Road site.
Bodylove Pilates and Trattor have joined Dan Murphy’s and Wholegreen Bakery at the mixed-use development at 12–14 Waters Road, which also includes 37 apartments.
Developer Central Element said the two openings marked the completion of its plan to establish a retail and lifestyle precinct beneath the residential development.
Bodylove Pilates has opened a studio offering reformer and mat pilates, barre and yoga. The venue includes two reformer studios and a separate mat and barre space, with more than 120 classes planned each week.
Bodylove founder Ali Handley said the studio aimed to provide a community-focused wellness space for Neutral Bay and surrounding suburbs.
“Our goal has always been to create spaces that nourish rather than deplete,” Handley said.
“We’re excited to bring the Bodylove experience to Neutral Bay and continue building a strong, connected wellness community on the Lower North Shore.”
Trattor, an Italian restaurant serving pizza, pasta, antipasto and breads, is the final hospitality business to open in the precinct.
Founder Matthew Wang described the restaurant as a neighbourhood venue designed to cater for everything from casual lunches to evening dining.
“What we have created is a true neighbourhood spot, somewhere locals can return to regularly for comforting, beautifully considered food that feels both familiar and elevated,” Wang said.
“We wanted to create a space centred around quality ingredients, thoughtful hospitality and a genuine connection to the community.”
Pienza was completed in 2025 as part of a wave of apartment and mixed-use development in Neutral Bay. The suburb has been the focus of debate over planning controls, building heights and the future renewal of the Neutral Bay town centre.
Central Element managing director Nathan Chivas said the company had intended the project to be more than a residential development.
“From the outset, our goal was to create a genuine village precinct that would contribute positively to the evolving character, lifestyle and everyday experience of Neutral Bay,” he said.
“The completion of the retail offering is an important milestone for the project and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see the final retailers opening their doors and the precinct coming to life.”
Central Element has continued to acquire and develop sites on the Lower North Shore. Its current projects include a proposed mixed-use seniors housing development in Greenwich, while the company has also acquired a site in Barry Street, Neutral Bay.
The developer has separately lodged plans for a major apartment development at Lavender Bay, comprising towers of 23 and 32 storeys with 163 apartments.
A public “Taste of Pienza” event will be held at the Neutral Bay precinct on Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5, with promotions and giveaways planned across its four retailers.
