St Leonards Park will host the final Sunset Series event of the season on Sunday 17 May, with the North Sydney Symphony Orchestra set to headline an afternoon program of live performance and community activities.
The orchestra, founded in 1947, is one of the longer-established community ensembles in New South Wales and presents a regular concert program across venues including the Smith Auditorium, The Concourse and the Verbrugghen Hall. The Sunset Series performance marks a return to its home base in North Sydney in an open-air format.

Also appearing on the program is Dyagula, a Wiradjuri, Gamilaraay, Ngunawal and Walgalu artist whose Wiradjuri-language interpretation of Make You Feel My Love on The Piano brought broader recognition. Her previous collaborations include performances alongside Archie Roach, Christine Anu and Electric Fields.
Organisers said the event would also include a range of family-oriented activities, with roving entertainment from Beeswax and Bottlecaps, face painting and a children’s workshop titled “Create your own musical instrument” delivered by Handy With Scissors. Mahjong social play sessions will be hosted by North Sydney Community Centre.
The event is scheduled to begin at 1pm, with attendees encouraged to bring picnic rugs for the afternoon program.
