Popular gluten free bakery Wholegreen Bakery has opened its doors on Waters Road, Neutral Bay, its fifth site in Sydney. The bakery is housed in the new Pienza development, which completed construction in September 2025.

Originally established in 2014 by nutritionist Cherie Lyden, the bakery gained a loyal following through market stalls including locally at Northside Produce Market. Two years later Lyden opened their first shop in the Eastern Suburbs before expanding to Sydney CBD and later established its commercial headquarters and retail outlet in Alexandria. The bakery is now also a supplier of sourdough to Harris Farm Markets across NSW, QLD, and ACT.

Cherie Lyden

Lyden’s inspiration to start the bakery came after she and her youngest daughter were both diagnosed with coeliac disease. After realising a shortage of high-quality, delicious gluten-free food, Lyden saw an opportunity to make a difference in the culinary and health space.

The sweet selection at Wholegreen Bakery includes sweet options such as almond croissants, pain au chocolat, lemon meringue tarts, and Portuguese custard tarts.

For those craving something savoury, the bakery offers Slow-cooked Grass-fed Beef Pies, Pork and Fennel Sausage Rolls, and Spanakopita slices. A variety of their signature sourdough loaves are also available.

Wholegreen Bakery joins The Green Bakery in North Sydney as one of the few dedicated gluten free food retailers in the district.
