There’s nothing quite like Sydney Harbour on New Years Eve, especially in and around the North Shore. To help locals and visitors enjoy the night here is our guide to the key sites in the area, road closures and events around North Sydney.

Key sites:

Bradfield Park and Mary Booth Reserve 

  • Closed to public: 30 December 8pm – Reopen to public: 31 December 9am 
  • Entry is free and will be allowed until the site reaches full capacity, no re-entry.

Lavender Bay (including Watt, Clark and Quibaree Parks) 

  • Closed to public: 30 December 7pm – Reopen to public: 31 December 9am 
  • Entry is free and will be allowed until the site reaches full capacity, no re-entry. 

Blues Point (including Henry Lawson Reserve) 

  • Closed to public: 30 December 7pm – Reopen to public: 31 December 11am 
  • Entry is $50. Only ticketholders may enter this vantage point, no re-entry. All ticketholders must arrive prior to 9pm. 

Sequence of events on the Harbour: 

  • Smoking ceremony on Sydney Harbour at 7:30pm 
  • Pylon projections and lighting display that begin at 8:30pm 
  • The pylon projection Welcome to Country at 8:45pm (pylon projection only, 3 minutes) 
  • The Calling Country fireworks display at 9:00pm (8 minutes long) 
  • The Sydney Harbour Lights Parade at 9:15pm 
  • The Midnight countdown starting at 11:58pm • The Midnight fireworks display at 12:00am (12 minutes long)

Road Closures:

Road closures begin from 7pm on 30 December 2025 and major closures will be in place from 5pm on 31 December 2025 until 4am on 1 January 2026. 

Key roads include Blues Point Rd, Lavender St, Alfred St, Broughton St, Olympic Blvd, Blue St, Miller St, Berry St and Pacific Highway. Vehicle access including bicycles will be restricted during road closures. Access to carparks within the road closures will not be permitted at any time. 

Events: 

NYE Eve at Old Commodore Hotel, McMahons Point

Canapés & DJs from 5:30 pm ahead of the 9pm harbour fireworks, From 9:30 pm with The Stafford Brothers, BLVKE & SaxBeatz will be on the decks.

New Year’s Soirée at View, North Sydney

Headlined by DJ act The Groove Academy at Deck 17 with views for the Harbour. Antipasto, seafood and Aperol stations. 

NYE at The Greens

Introducing the biggest NYE kids playground on the north shore with an featuring three inflatable obstacle courses, face painters, balloon artists, and a circus performer throughout the evening, as well as live music. 

New Years Eve in the Oasis, Green Moustache, North Sydney

Includes an Aperol Spritz on arrival, followed by a three-course dinner paired with a three-hour beverage package featuring premium wine and beer.

Le Rooftop NYE 2025

Enjoy a 5-course curated dinner at 6:30PM and then watch the 9pm fireworks from their Blue Point Road rooftop terrace in comfort.
