North Sydney parents and students face disruption as Busways announces the discontinuation of 12 school bus services, effective from 8 December 2025. The move is part of a “simplification of the bus network” on the North Shore, where Busways has been operating public buses since 2022. According to NSW Government data, school students made 97,729 trips in October this year in the region Busways operates (Greater Sydney Contract 7).

The changes are set to affect students attending 12 local schools: Anzac Park Public School, Cammeray Public School, Cammeraygal, Loreto Kirribilli, Marist, Monte, North Sydney Boys and Girls, North Sydney Public School, Shore, St Aloysius’ College and Wenona.

The changes are likely to increase reliance on public bus routes for the affected North Sydney school communities. Busways has provided a list of alternative public routes and travel options for the discontinued school services, advising commuters to plan ahead for the changes.
