Former North Sydney MP Kylea Tink has been appointed chief executive of Foodbank Australia, succeeding Brianna Casey, who announced her resignation in July.
Tink’s appointment marks a return to the not-for-profit sector, where she previously served as inaugural CEO of the McGrath Foundation and later led Camp Quality. Before entering politics, she was managing director of Edelman Australia.
In comments to the Australian Financial Review, Tink said her new role was “a natural extension” of her past work. “It provides the opportunity to again work with dedicated and brave people to fix what is a wholly fixable issue – hunger,” she said, adding that “no one in Australia should ever have to worry about what they are going to either feed their families or eat themselves.”

Tink served as the federal member for North Sydney from 2022 until earlier this year, when the seat was abolished in a redistribution. She was the first woman to represent the electorate and one of nine community independents elected at the 2022 federal election. Since March 2025, she has also been a director of the Community Independents Project.
Foodbank chair Duncan Makeig said he looked forward to working with Tink “as we all turn our full attention to solving this challenge once and for all.”
