North Sydney will host the start line of the TCS Sydney Marathon this Sunday, August 31, with significant road closures and special event clearways to be in place across the city.
Transport for NSW said Miller Street in North Sydney, including the start line precinct, will be closed from 2am to 12pm. The Sydney Harbour Bridge and Western Distributor will close between 3am and 11am, with motorists advised to use the Harbour Tunnel if travelling southbound.
Major city roads through to Moore Park, including Oxford Street, will remain closed until 3.30pm. Sections of Macquarie Street will be closed until 4pm, while Anzac Parade from Moore Park to Kingsford will be shut from 5am to 1.30pm. The Cross City Tunnel will be toll-free from 5am to 4.30pm.
Event organisers warned of expected delays and encouraged residents to plan travel in advance. “A detailed communications and notification strategy is underway to make sure residents and businesses are aware of direct and indirect impacts,” said Pont, the company managing the marathon. A residential letterbox drop and direct business mail-out began on August 11.

North Sydney Council invited feedback from affected residents and businesses on how the event has impacted them, while event-related inquiries can be directed to the organisers via sydneymarathon.com. Emergency services will remain contactable through the usual 000 line.
