Beauty Point Public School students and teachers this month welcomed a new principal, Trent Gardiner, to mark the start of the 2024 school year.

Gardiner has worked as an assistant principal, then a deputy principal and now a principal in the NSW public education system for over 11 years. Prior to that he was a deputy principal at Wahroonga Preparatory School.

He says: “As a Principal, I have successfully led educational institutions through dynamic periods of growth and change. My leadership philosophy revolves around creating a positive and inclusive school culture that nurtures the holistic development of every student. Through strategic planning, collaborative initiatives, and a focus on innovation, I’ve consistently elevated academic standards while placing a premium on student wellbeing.”

Beauty Point Public School has just under 300 students and has around 16 teachers on staff.

Across NSW, 77 new principals have started and are settling in and outlining their leadership priorities for the school year. Of the new principals, 41 are leading schools in regional, rural and remote areas of NSW while 36 are starting at schools in the Sydney metropolitan area.

NSW Deputy Premier, Minister for Education and Early Learning Prue Car said: “The new principals will bring plenty of energy, expertise and new ideas to the roles and I know that they can’t wait to get started.” “NSW public school principals play an important role in our local communities, guiding our students through their educational journeys and transforming lives through learning. I am confident these new principals will lead with dignity and kindness, setting our students up with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive.”

NSW Department of Education Secretary Murat Dizdar said: “It’s my pleasure to welcome our 77 new principals to their new schools for the start of 2024. I know they will be exceptional role models to staff by improving the quality of learning and engagement of our students. Our school principals are the driving force behind creating a positive and inclusive learning
environment that empowers teachers and inspires students to reach their full potential.”
